Play time just got a whole lot better
Member for The Entrance, David Mehan, was delighted that the new Picnic Point district-level playspace has been officially opened to the local community. The upgrade came to life and was made possible because of a community-led petition.

CENTRAL Coast Council was allocated $190,000 under the Minns Labor Government’s Local Small Commitments Allocation Program to deliver the playspace and provide a greater place experience for the community with safe, inclusive, and fit for purpose equipment.
This funding was part of a total of a $400,000 election promise made by Mr Mehan and provided to Central Coast Council for playspace upgrades in The Entrance electorate.
Mr Mehan promised upgrades to three playspaces and works have now been completed at all three locations, including Maidens Brush Reserve playspace and the iconic Rocket Park at Long Jetty.
David Mehan said, “Investing in our local community is essential and projects such as these ensure that local families have fit for purpose playspaces to enjoy.
“I am proud to be part of a Minns Labor Government which listens to the concerns of local communities and delivers on its promises.
“I thank all those who advocated for, signed the petition, and contributed to the design.
“It just goes to show that with the community’s input we are able to achieve great outcomes.”
The upgrade at Picnic Point also includes a tribute to Leigh Black, a beloved local mother, wife, and community member who tragically lost her life in 2022. eigh often spent time at local parks with her children, and this upgraded playspace recognises her connection to the area and her contribution to the community.
