THE free inaugural Love the Ocean Whale Welcome eventevent is Friends of Kurrawyba’s way of celebrating the approach of the whales’ winter northern migration.
“It’s an opportunity for everyone who loves the ocean to come along, meet like-minded people and hear some great speakers,” said Friends of Kurrawyba spokesperson, Izabela Sajdok.
“Our guest speakers will include Ronnie Ling – well known for his love of and knowledge of the humpback whales migrating along the east coast in record numbers.
“Ali Beikzadeh is well known for his environmental activism, including the need to permanently remove shark nets from our beaches.
“Sarah Han-de-Beaux will join us to share stories about her wonderful underwater adventures, photography and activism.
“We will also have an array of community groups participating with market and information stalls about everything related to loving the ocean from
seabird and turtle rescue, through to plastic pollution and everything in between.
“And that’s just a snapshot of what we’ve got planned for the day. There will be a coffee cart, face painting and loads of fun for everyone.”
