MEMBER for Wyong, David Harris previously visited Wyong District Cricket Club on the grounds at Baker Park, when he announcing a Community Building Partnership grant. The grant was used to raise the slab and replace the matting on the synthetic cricket pitch.

The cricket club also received The Stronger Country Communities Fund to upgrade the club house, which totalled $113,973 in grants received.

"The community grants have allowed us to improve our facilities for over 300 members and their families, across senior men's and women's teams, as well as junior boys' and girls' competitions," said Wyong Cricket Club President, Matthew Day.

"It’s also created a welcoming space for locals to come together and enjoy cricket year-round. It’s fantastic for us as a club to see the community benefiting from these improvements."

To celebrate the new upgrades members, volunteers and sponsors surrounded the cricket grounds with Mr Day, members and Mr Harris to cut the red ribbon.

"It's great to see active sporting clubs taking on opportunities to improve players skills in batting and bowling,” David Harris said.

“It is important we continue supporting our local sporting clubs – they are the life-blood of our communities and key to ensuring our community live a healthy and happy lifestyle.”

The celebrations continued into the afternoon at Wyong Bowling Club, for a meet and greet with the coaches, players, and sponsors.
