Disappointing results for patients

26 July 2021

MEMBER for The Entrance, David Mehan, has expressed his disappointment in the NSW Liberal Government’s decision to close the Clozapine Clinic, which operated from the Long Jetty Community Health Centre.

The Clinic provided care to patients who have treatment resistance schizophrenia and are prescribed Clozapine to manage their condition.

The closure of The Clinic has occurred despite the communities objections and with no consideration to the consequences this will have on the patients and their carers.

Patients will now need to travel to a private clinic in Kanwal.

“The move to Kanwal represents the effective privatisation of the service and the transfer of cost to Medicare and away from the NSW Government,” said Mr Mehan.
