NEWS THAT MATTERS
Unfavourable weather
doesn't deter walkers'
Unfortunately, the official start to the walking season has been interrupted on some occasions recently by unfavourable weather conditions - but this has not daunted the Weekday Walkers.

MARCIA MOSELEY from the Weekday Walkers said that one new member has joined the group and several new faces have joined the group on some of their walks, which have managed to coincide with favourable weather.
The most recent walk attracted 14 walkers, including two visitors, for the uphill walk from Hardys Bay to the Box Head Track. The walk took them through the sculptural beauty of Angophoras to the great views across Broken Bay to Lion Island and Barrenjoey, which are experienced from Box Head. The walkers' then returned via Pretty Beach to Wagstaff, where they enjoyed their lunch at a picnic table near the ferry wharf.
The next scheduled walk is Maitland Bay to Mount Bouddi Lookout, on 2 May, which is listed as medium to hard. Anyone with the appropriate fitness level and who is interested in joining the group for this eight kilometre walk is welcome. The group will meet at the Maitland Bay Beach car park on Scenic Drive, near Maitland Bay Drive, Killcare Heights for a 9.30 start. Bring water, morning
tea and lunch.
The 9 May walk involves a train trip to Central, light rail to Marion Station, from where the walk begins, taking you along Hawthorn Canal to Long Nose Point, then to Balmain to catch the ferry to Circular Quay for your return home by train. This is a very pleasant day out, with the walk beside the water and with views of Rodd, Spectacle and Cockatoo Islands. It is listed as an easy to medium walk and covers a distance of nine kilometres.
